Bernard McShane, Belfast

Bernard McShane b.1837 and Mary O'Neill

Bernard McShane (52) was born in 1837 and to date little is known of his history, other than the fact that he died 6 March 1906. He married Mary O'Neill (74) and they had at least one child, Hugh McShane (9) who was born in 1868 and is known to have lived in Holywood, County Down. Hugh's birth certificate give details of Bernard having been deceased. Therefore it is unlikely that the Bernard from Holywood listed as killed in Action during World War I is this Bernard. Details of this Army note are recorded here. In any event this Bernard would have been too old to have served in WWI. WE are investigating to see if this was Bernard's (52) son.
