Postmarks - Irish Undated Namestamps - Straight Line Type 1A

Within Ireland early post offices had a STRAIGHT LINE name cancel usually applied in Black. Th eType 1A namestamps appear as a single line with Serifed Letters and are unframed. William Kanwe produced an initial list with dates running from 1823-1859. A second type with Sans Serif letters will be listed separately. We list below the initial known offices and are aware of additions to this. If anyone has an example of a Serifed Lettered Straight Line cancel from Ireland please do send a copy to allow us to update this list.

Sites with an * are previously unlisted in William Kanes publication "Undated Namestamps of Ireland 1823-1860" and some have been added for earlier dates just to list them on one place. There are significant San Serifed type cancels, Type 2, which will be listed here later.
